Very good, although quite difficult at times.
The story of two teenagers, set in Colonial Malaya in the 1930s. The teenagers are both native Malayans (who seem to be inherently quite racially mixed). The dominant class in the country at the time seems to be the British, and much of the action takes place around the hospital and British doctors, who behave in a rather typical colonial way.
The plot revolves around amputated fingers, the corruption of an English doctor, a love affair between two half siblings, and skulduggery in the hospitals. But it is better than described here.
