990. Elif Shafak - The Bastard Of Istanbul

Very good and merits a re-read as hard to follow at times.

The interaction of two families, one Turkish, and one diaspora Armenians based in the US. The Armenians I gather were massacred by the Turks early in the 20th C and there is no love lost between the two communities. But Istanbul used to be a city where a huge number of races lived in relative harmony and this novel tries to put that together through their family histories.

Very good.
