98. Mark Billingham - Lazybones


A new (to me) crime writer, but the reviews say 'Move over Morse, Rebus et al'; and for once I agree with no great hesitation.

This guy who, unless I have misread something on his website, seems to double up as a stand up comic, writes very good stuff.

Typical somewhat disillusioned and troubled cop, (and of course they are getting younger all the time - mainly indicated by taste in music, although Tom Thorne is really into C&W and Johnny Cash, which his colleagues see as totally outmoded).

Clever plotting and some great apercue's, like ' this bit of London used to be full of highwaymen and is now full of hoodies' (who are no doubt latter day highwaymen).

So, lots more spending on Amazon to follow, no doubt.
