918. Anne Perry - Three Debts Paid

Not sure I would read any more of these. A Daniel Pitt novel from ‘The New York Times Bestselling Author’. Readable but dull.

Set in London in the early 20th century, Daniel Pitt is a lawyer in love with an older forensic scientist improbably named Miriam fford Croft. Daniel is asked to defend a bad tempered Cambridge history don, who has assaulted an academic rival, who had accused him of plagiarism.

Miriam is meanwhile doing the forensics on three shocking murders, which have some similarities. It transpires that the history don is the murderer, avenging some tragedy in his own life about 20 years earlier.

The conclusion was pretty much bolted together and not very satisfactory.
