894. Graham Masterson - Buried

Another fast paced thriller in the Katie Maguire series. These are maybe a bit repetitive, but they really are fast paced, often gruesome thrillers.

We had nuns toes being amputated in ‘Blood Sisters’; in this one we have Katies’ boyfriend having his feet impaled on a bedpost having tried to escape from his evil captor (a cigarette smuggling IRA chief down in Cork). Not to mention bodies shot in the head and buried under floorboards, two sets about 100 years apart. So pretty gruesome.

Unusually, Kate breaks out of her police role to take revenge on the killer, called I think Quilty. Very readable, but one could probably have too much of it, unless on a hot beach somewhere (chance would be a fine thing).
