As P said, this is much better than 'An American Marriage'.
A story about a bigamous marriage written from the standpoint of the two daughters, one of whom is aware of the other’s existence, the other not (there is a Ruth Rendell novel, I think 'An Unkindness of Ravens', with a similar theme, but this is not a crime novel).
As the girls lives collide towards the end, the writing is brilliant particularly the scene at the petrol station after their car has a blow out. The two mother’s subsequently confront each other, and the daughters achieve some sort of reconciliation.
The bigamous husband/father is slightly understated, possibly deliberately. But very good.
