891. Graham Masterson - Blood Sisters

This guy is very good. The books are full of very graphic violence, but are extremely well plotted and the central figure Kate Maguire is interesting and appealing.

This one is about the repercussions of unmarried teenage mothers being sent off to nunneries where both mother and child were treated with little respect by the nuns, and this is the gruesome revenge of one mother, who murders the nuns in a manner befitting to the death of the saint they followed. And, slightly spuriously linked, corruption and brutality inflicted on racehorses in that bit of Irish society.

Violent, brutal, but very well put together story.
