This is a rollicking good yarn; set initially in the 1960’s around the time of the Profumo scandal involving a murder set in Yorkshire amongst the then aristocracy, and involving Dalziel (as a junior officer) and his then boss Wally Tallyntyre.
They solved the case at the time but it has been reopened some 30 years later, much to Dalziel’s annoyance.
So the whole plot is revisited some 30 year’s later, and it eventually transpires that there was a soviet spy scandal element to it, covered up by the establishment because of a royal connection.
Quite hard work to follow but very good and funny at times.
