874. David Nicholls - Sweet Sorrow

Quite enjoyed this; had heard it on the radio a year or two ago.

A first love story, loosely structured around 'Romeo and Juliet' which is the play the protagonists are acting in an amateur production. They aren’t exactly star crossed, but come from different schools. Charlie is an educational non-achiever in a comprehensive and Fran is superficially brighter and goes to a better school. Their brief love affair is tenderly drawn, but inevitably short lived.

Good, but I can’t think of a lot more to say about it.
