I had seen this in the bookshops years ago, but avoided it as the marketing made it look luridly unpleasant. But it is repeatedly praised on the radio, so gave it a go.
It’s an excellent book, reminded me of Jane Austen at times, but set in 20th century Lagos (I think).
Two sisters, one a hard working and not that attractive nurse, and the younger one who has no interests or occupations except men. It appears that she occasionally kills them when they fall out and her older sister helps with the medical and other aspects of the cover up.
Older sister falls in love with a doctor in the hospital who is quickly poached by younger sister; she also talks to a comatose patient about the whole situation, and he remembers all the details on surfacing.
Not a very coherent summary; I must read again to understand better, but excellent read.
