853. George Eliot - Middlemarch


Remains, probably, my favourite book, but it is seriously long! (although lots of distractions over the last few weeks – cricket, jigsaws).

This is the 3rd time I have read this since keeping this listing, and it is amazing how much one forgets – for instance I had never really taken in the disastrous (for him) London – possibly an autobiographic bit.

But it remains a wonderful Victorian novel.
