Much better.
Financial and sexual corruption have led to a sham marriage. Husband finds out that his daughter is not his, threatens to leave the family home; daughter who one thinks is going to kill the symbolic duck in fact kills herself.
Both plays feature a rather moralistic minor character who forces the adults to acknowledge their weaknesses; the author may have been something of a moralist but these characters seem somewhat sadistic; probably unintentionally.
