82. Arnaldur Indridason - Silence Of The Grave


Another old murder; this time from WW2 Reykjavik.

Hints of a fairy story about it; particularly the family suffering from the very violent father. Difficult sometimes to place the genre.

Erlendur's very difficult relationship with his daughter is spattered throughout the books; in this one she miscarries, ends up in a coma and a lot of the book is Erlendur sitting by her bedside talking to her. She does recover in the end, I think when he begins to talk to her about her brother.

There are a lot of strange people in these books. Creatures out of Icelandic legend (including the hero).
