We used to have a few of this guy’s books, but this is the only one left after a purge a few years ago. It is very good as a variant on the angry young men theme. The anti hero Hilary Fletcher grows up in a lower middle class (father a clergyman) background surrounded by aristocratic wealthy toffs on whom he takes a terrible revenge, bankrupting the men and seducing both daughters, the younger of whom he marries and if I remember they live happily ever after. Good and different.
