796. Ian Rankin - Even Dogs In The Wild

Tim O'Brien

This was brilliant. Must have read it before and quite recently as published in 2016, but didn’t remember it at all. Three plot elements combined – Edinburgh encroached on by Glasgow gangland, as Cafferty is ageing and semi-retired like Rebus; the Edinburgh police and Rebus, Clarke’s and Malcolm Fox’s slightly complex interplay and historic child abuse in a children’s home; the latter a bit of an overplayed theme recently. But this was brilliantly written and plotted and I really enjoyed it. No point, I don’t think, in summarising the plot – enough said and it would take too long!
