725. Jessie Burton - The Confession

This was on the radio a few weeks ago and is her much heralded 3rd book. I found it hard work, and not frankly that good.

The narrative involves a daughter trying to track down the fate of her mother, who had a gay relationship with an author. The daughter inveigles her way into the life of the now elderly novelist and gradually uncovers the story of the author’s relationship with the mother in California, 30 years ago, although as I understood it the mother’s disappearance remains a mystery.

I really enjoyed no 717, but found this dull and inconsequential.
