692. Graham Norton - A Keeper

I had no idea this guys wrote books, as well as being a chat show host. I wouldn’t say this was very well written, but the plot was certainly entertaining and reminded me a little of a Grimm fairy tale.

An Irish spinster decides to look for a husband and gets a reply apparently from a farmer in Cork. It transpires that the guy can’t actually read or write and it is his mother who has initiated the correspondence, his previous wife having died, apparently in childbirth. So the heroine, or rather the heroine’s mother, as it is the daughter who unearths all this, is really being recruited as a stepmother, and being locked up and forced into this role by the evil farmer’s mother, all a bit far fetched (although possibly based on a true story?) but quite entertaining.
