644. Jonathan Coe - What A Carve Up!

Quite a long read, but have been very busy with work; maybe a summer holiday beach book.

Quite a difficult read, very funny in places but I found the plot quite hard work, and the conclusion quite weird – the narrator is killed in a flying accident almost in mid sentence. Quite an angry book too, this time the first Iraq war, and underlying anger at the British ruling class represented by the awful Winshaw family.

But it has, I think, dated a bit in the 20+ years since publication.
