618. Mick Herron - Dead Lyons

The 2nd Slough House, which I have read before but not hugely enjoyed. The one about the sleeper cell in the Cotswolds.

A minor weakness of Mick Herron is that he doesn’t clearly unravel the plot in (usually) the penultimate chapter; the final one is a revisiting of Slough House (here) by a mouse. So the final logic of the plot escapes me.

As here – how did the sleeper cell relate to the bungled attempt to break into and steal jewellery from an up market jewellers in the Shard and why did Spider Webb set up a meeting with the perpetrator, who he thought was an up and coming Russian power broker? And what was MI5’s involvement? Possibly this was clear to a cleverer reader than me, so maybe I will have to re-read.
