This was very good, although I’d have enjoyed it more if:
I had realised it was a reworking of Antigone and
I had any knowledge of the plot of Antigone.
The plot here is: 3 Pakistani origin kids, the younger 2 twins; father a Muslim fighter who had died in a holding camp after fighting in Bosnia and other places. In parallel, the UK has an ambitious Pakistani origin home secretary.
The children of the 2 families meet up; son of the fighter joins ISIS and fights in Syria; his twin sister wants him back in the UK and meets (via her sister) the son of the Home Secretary and either seduces him or falls in love with him, and tries to get him to influence her father to repatriate her brother. He refuses, son is murdered in Turkey and his body flown to Pakistan pursued by his sister, and the lover follows her over there. Both are blown up in a terrorist bomb.
Easier to summarise with the whole plot clear than to read, but basically very good and re-readable.
