Grabbed another Jake Arnott as I finished 577 late evening and needed an easy start.
This I think is a better book than 577, set in London in the early 1970’s transition from left wing hippies (Angry Brigade etc) to glam rock. The characters are a mix of both these worlds – Nina the bi-sexual squatter ends up with Sweet Thing, a rent boy picked up by one her of fellow squatters, but whose main role is to service Johnnie, a cheaper Bowie imitator.
Reminded me quite a lot of Helen Dunmore’s 'Burning Bright' (547) in which again characters from different worlds collide and interact in interesting ways.
Better I think than 'The Fatal Tree'.
