540. Mick Herron - The Last Voice You Hear

The 2nd Zoe Boehm. Very good again; I think this guy is a great writer.

I found the series of improbable coincidences across the 1st 50 pages quite hard work, but the 2nd half where the disparate bits of the plot were all pulled together up in Yorkshire, where Sarah now lives, are brilliant (although the role and character Alan Talmadge who killed the 2 women and helps to save Zoe at the end remained obscure throughout the book, although see further 542).

The shooting of an ostrich in a North Yorkshire setting is an interesting plot twist.

The quality of the writing, its intellect and humour, remains brilliant throughout.
