491. David Mark - Original Skin

Did indeed! This guy is very good, and these are high class police procedurals, with a good variety of police colleagues of McAvoy, who has a loving if slightly sentimentalised marriage and family.

Two parallel plot lines like a lot of good procedurals – gruesome gangland activity, and the murder of some swinging bisexual kids with serious tattoos (hence I assume, the title), which is linked to the powers that be on the police authority.

McAvoy is a little too much of a tortured gentle giant for my taste; you know when he has to reluctantly bare knuckle fight a pretty unpleasant traveller at the end, that he is going to win and suffer (his wife is also a traveller, whom he met rescuing from persecution by the moneyed middle class). This side of the characterisation doesn’t 100% work for me. But a minor issue.
