487. Kate Atkinson - Behind The Scenes At The Museum

Possibly her first (famous or actual first?) book. Good, but difficult and hard work.

The main narrative is a Tristram Shandy like autobiography beginning pre-natally. But to each chapter there is a supplementary/appendix narrative about the 19th/early 20th century lives of her ancestors ranging from late 19th century Victorian working class York, through the 1st World War where many of them were killed.

Good but challenging; must re-read maybe on holiday next month.
