Not as good as part 1 (464), but he had set the scene then and doesn’t add much to it in Part 2, apart from dropping in various celebrated 1960’s/70’s characters – lawyers, judges and even politicians.
But this is just a plot about two pretty unpleasant East End villains, corrupt policemen and their brushes with the law and each other. All the hard work scene setting was done in Part 1.
I am struggling to read (as P does all the time) several books at once at the moment; a serious novel or latterly critique/biography for ‘serious’ downstairs reading and a cheap thriller late in bed at night. Read 464 to balance out the difficult 465, and this to balance 466.
We will see how it goes; currently trying to balance 'Sense and Sensibility' with an Indridson Rekjavik thriller.
