This is a very good biography of Elizabeth Jane Howard, whose Cazalet novels I enjoyed a year or 2 ago, and who was married to Peter Scott, the naturalist and latterly Kingsley Amis.
It is a very honest and well put together portrait of a deeply lonely and needy woman and, particularly in the passage dealing with the deterioration of her marriage to Amis, of how a marriage can just fall apart, the initial attractions twisting over time into irritations.
Very good, worth reading again just for its range and depth.
