444. Charles Cumming - The Hidden Man

The third of the three I bought with the birthday tokens and by far the best.

The key point is that this is a good novel, with the spy bit of the plot in the background, particularly early on in the book. So the relationship between the 2 brothers and one of them and his wife is interesting in itself.

If I have a criticism it is that the various conflicting agencies within the British Secret Services are not clearly differentiated early on; MI6 in conflict with MI5, seems to be SIS at times. The father of the brothers (exMI5 or 6?) seems to work for a private security firm whose name I forget. This is needlessly confusing for me. But otherwise very good and he has written lots more.
