A short ‘academic’ lit-crit study, heavily pushed on my kindle. I don’t normally read such things, but Scott is such a heavyweight and surprisingly good read, I thought I’d give it a go.
Slightly typical academic study; interesting because (to my and P’s surprise) he argued for Merrick as perhaps a good character and the various women (Sarah, Daphne, Barbie as weak and self deluded). The Charles Dance character whose name escapes me (Guy Perron) is dismissed as snobbishly delusional in his negativity about Merrick.
An interesting view and lots of background on Scott’s life.
