This is number six in the series, and the only other one we have after no.392.
So a lot of plot has flowed under the bridge. Fielding Gray is now a novelist, having fought in Cyprus and been badly injured. He is persuaded to return there to interview a freedom fighter (general Grivas, I think a real person), but this is highly controversial and many of the powers that be try to dissuade him.
He is seduced by a Christopher (see no.392) lookalike, which throws him off his course and into despair.
These books are quite good, I prefer Raven to say Evelyn Waugh, but I am not sure about their continuing availability.
