Must be no.7 and another wonderful book; this time about Clara’s eventual success as a painter and the corruption inherent in the art market, art world and indeed the artists themselves.
I found the ending weak as at no.372 - the perpetrator I thought was Peter, Clara’s husband (as in no.362) but it turned out, annoyingly randomly, to be an art dealer on the Quebec/ Montreal circuit who had appeared in one of the previous books and offended most people. At the end of the book, Clara asks Peter to leave.
This one branched out and introduced characters who I am sure will appear in later books, as well as bouncing back to the dam episode in no.372.
