348. Graham Greene - Monsignor Quixote


Another purloined book, the only Greene I could see there that I hadn’t read. This is a late and rather slight book; a parody I assume of 'Don Quixote' (which I haven’t read) featuring the eponymous priest with Sancho Panza as the disgraced communist mayor of their local Spanish village. And a car called Rocinante.

There is quite a lot of quite amusing dialogue comparing and contrasting Catholic with Communist beliefs, and the plot may be sharper with a knowledge of Don Quixote, but otherwise, to me, slight.
