P enjoyed this, but I didn’t much. You can tell it is a ‘good quality’ novel, but I just didn’t warm to it.
The Burgess' are a couple of now middle aged men, both layers, living in New York, but originally from Maine. Jim the older is a big shot success, who constantly puts down his little brother who idolised him and maybe still does.
They are pulled back together by an outrage committed by their nephew back in Maine, who upsets the local (Muslim) Somali community by chucking a pig’s head in the mosque.
There are lots of good quality themes, some quite interesting characters, but it just all left me a bit cold.
