Started no.318 in Spain, but poor eyesight and less than gripping plot enforced a substitution. I have read this before; the only book of his where the central figure is female and he writes well about her. I love the idea of rising (upwards, as opposed to falling) into love.
Quite a clever plot, although the main narrative of the sub-plot (her father’s early life) is a bit of an overwritten cliché. Stylistically, it reminds me quite a lot of Paul Auster, perhaps because of the initially mysterious Quinn, who does in fact share his name with the ‘hero’ of 'City of Glass' (had to double check this!).
