304. Ed McBain - King's Ransom


Haven’t read one of these for years. This is an early book (1959) and surprisingly good.

The story is beautifully constructed, as the plot juxtaposes between the criminal and the victims, both displaying equal degrees of unpleasantness (male originated) and sympathy (female originated) for the (wrong) child who had been kidnapped in error.

Better constructed as a story than Victory.
