This is a fictionalised account of the Borgias. The writing is poor; the characters very stereotyped and lacking in character. Reads almost like a script for a film/TV serial.

I have learnt a little about the Borgias (about whom I knew nothing), the papacy in the late 15th century and how broken up into small city states Italy was, I guess, pre unification by Garibaldi (?) in the 19th century. But not a lot more.
