This is very good. A retelling of the gospels - mainly the crucifixion - from the perspectives of four characters – Mary, Judas Iscariot, Caiaphas the priest, and Barabbas. I am not too sure about the liar’s bit, although they all tell lies inter alia.
The crucifixion is little more than an event in passing for each of them; perhaps less so Judas given his involvement, but surprisingly so for Mary, although she is a pragmatist and has lots of other children to deal with. It is also a brutal re-telling of the roman conquest of the Middle East, the Jews implacable hatred of their conquerors, and ends with an epilogue about the sacking, indeed I think raising literally to the ground of Jerusalem, which I assume is a historical event.
