274. Fred Vargas - The Chalk Circle Man

This is the one I had read before; it has a very clever ending, although I found there was too much interior monologue from Adamsberg, the Sherlock Holmes style detective.

She seems to like false trails and deceptions: the plague is a sort of deception in no.273 and the chalk circles are a double deception in this book, completely fooling Danglard, the Dr Watson figure, and the reader (well at least this one).

She is a pretty good writer of a different style of crime fiction.
