Having seen this guy in the library last week, thought I would try some of his other books. This one doesn’t feature Resnick, but another semi retired policeman Frank Elder.
Harvey does write books filled with characters and therefore extensive plots and this is no exception. It is about daughters being abducted/raped and murdered/disappearing, and the disappearance of Elder’s own daughter towards the end is a bit flagged up. I would say pretty good; the plot was a bit laboured at times.
I am trying to work out how Harvey (of whom I am a late discoverer) compares with Peter Robinson who has been my favourite contemporary English crime novelist for some years. Robinson can write a more classically poised book, although his later stuff has disappointed me a little.
Banks is a more up front detective than Resnick, who I think is quite understated. Not quite sure.
