244. Franz Kafka - The Trial

Bought this in 1972, a few years ago; wonder what I made of it then?

I thought it was really good and quite funny – hard going in places, the chapters featuring the advocate were hard work, but the scenes from Joseph K’s normal life—which he is trying to carry on with despite this ‘trial’ looming (which never overtly happens)—are quite amusing.

The penultimate chapter where Joseph confronts the priest in the cathedral is a great passage of literature, dare one say that.
