This was a bit of a challenge as it is similar to this site.
A book about the challenge he set himself to read 50 books, chosen I am not sure how. He did get through them although failed I think, as I did, with 'One Hundred Years of Solitude', and 'Couples' wasn’t on his list.
I found the writer slightly annoying, a bit Nick Hornby-ish, and self congratulatory in an apparently self effacing way. There were however some good book ideas – 'Anna Karenina', which we have on our bookcase and two writers I have never heard of – Michel Houllebecq and Patrick Hamilton, possibly also Colin MacInnes.
Interestingly, he wrote a blog around the book but didn’t enjoy this much.
