231. Anne Zouroudi - The Messenger Of Athens

The author was recommended to Paddy by her friend Rod Lee.

A detective series set in modern Greece; well this one on a tiny island. Although it is not really a detective story.

The hero, a fat man by the name of Hermes Diaktoros, may not be a policeman at all, although he impersonates being one.

Sent from Athens to investigate the mysterious death of a woman, he uncovers a hotbed of lust, corruption and semi feudal mores, and eventually exposes the murder and brings justice to the wrongdoers in somewhat devious ways.

Interesting and different – written I gather from Google by an expat English woman who has married a Greek fisherman.

One of a series modelled around the seven deadly sins; this one being (I assume) lust.
