224. Håkan Nesser - Woman With Birthmark


Maybe it is an unfortunate coincidence, but this is just too similar to 'Borkmann’s Point'.

Again a killer on an apparently random killing spree and a huge amount of energy (and reading time) devoted to trying to establish the links between the victims. The ending is similarly clever to no.223, but structurally the two books are virtually identical.

I am reading them in the wrong order – Van Veeteren is more interesting (and the minor characters have more scope to develop) after he has retired as in no.213.
