182. Sian Busby - A Commonplace Killing

Bought four books in Waterstones with a token Dan gave me for Xmas.

I had never heard of this or the author who turns out to be the wife of Robert Peston (the BBC’s economics correspondent) who died sadly young of lung cancer.

It is very much a period piece, a sad murder mystery both of whose protagonists were pretty seriously damaged by the war (2nd World War) and set in fairly seedy late 1940’s London.

There is in a nice world weary policeman, who is assisted by a pretty young female driver, who could be the model for the Honeysuckle Weekes character in Foyles War.

She has written other books which would be worth a read.
