A Christmas present from Ben. The sort of cheap thriller I used to read a lot of.
Quite a clever plot, well-plotted, and very filmic; well the killer is a frustrated actor/script writer who writes a script in which he stars in which life imitates art cleverly.
How do you compare this with Dostoyevsky? Well, it is a page-turner with no pretensions to anything other that. That means that the plot is compelling. The minor characters are of more interest than those in 'The Idiot'. Either I completely misread that book or it is over regarded. Maybe I should read 'Crime & Punishment' and compare it with 'Killing the Dead'.
