167. Anthony Trollope - Framley Parsonage

My first Trollope, so to speak. Not sure that this was the best choice as it is long, not all easy, and felt at times like 'War & Peace'.

Some of Trollope’s interests are obscure church politics and hierarchical structure. Some of the characters in this book appear in 'The Warden' and another which has been televised.

I was saying to Paddy that with a book like this you can only focus on a limited number of characters and the passages outside my focus level were tedious. But those within it very good — the vanity of Mark Robarts, his wife’s support, the vanity of a different kind of Lady Lufton and Mark’s sister’s defiance of her; lots of good things but terribly long. I will try an easier one!
