116. R. J. Ellory - The Devil And The River

Great, big book - post Vietnam meets Raymond Chandler (the end is very Chandler-esque - serious wealth and serious corruption).

Small town cop (ex GI and pretty traumatised by Vietnam experience, as is another central character by his WW2 experience) uncovers the body of murdered girl, who appears to have been horrendously mutilated. But this isn't really what happened, and to reveal more would spoil the plot.

Very good as usual.
