I have rediscovered James since reading 'Portrait of a Lady' last year.
This is a nicely constructed little story about two Europeans, a morganantically [what does this mean - I used to know] married duchess and her brother, who visit Boston to spark European mores against those of New England.
Felix, the brother, liberates and marries the elder Bostonian sister, who was earmarked to marry a dull preacher. His sister Eugenie probably seduces the young brother, but doesn't marry the man she wants for reasons unclear; although they seem to get on, she just doesn't really like him, despite money and whatever else she seems to want. I am not sure why not.
