1033. Mick Herron - Nobody Walks

Have read this before (no.587), but was told by someone in my book group that it is new, but it is not – republished in a new imprint in 2022, but originally by the same publisher in 2016 (is this a publisher’s trick?).

Peripheral to Slough House, it includes JK Coe and the subsequently sacked Ingrid Tearney, but no one else. The central figures are an ex-joe Tom Bettany, living in Marseilles, who receives a message that his son has died in London. Returning, he becomes involved in a pretty complex plot involving gaming, drugs and Ms Tearney, who is manipulating most events.

Quite a good read, but lightweight compared to the Slough House novels.
