1018. Ian McEwan - Machines Like Me

About a man Charlie, his lover Miranda, and a synthetic man, Adam, whom Charlie has bought.

Set in an alternative 1980’s when Thatcher is prime minster but loses the Falklands war, and loses an election to Tony Benn.

I can’t quite see the point of this. Adam and Miranda sleep together, ditto. Miranda has a guilty secret which Adam, with paranormal knowledge, flushes out of her. Lots of opaque references to Alan Turing, who seems to have lots of links with A.I.

Readable, but I can’t see a lot of point to a book like this.
