1017. Shelby Van Pelt - Remarkably Bright Creatures

Quite enjoyed this, but insubstantial.

Tova, an elderly Swedish widow, works as cleaner in an aquarium and develops a relationship with Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus. She has lost her only son in mysterious circumstances many years ago. Meanwhile Cameron, a bit of a waster, appears in the town where she works and becomes a colleague. The octopus, who can with difficulty escape from his tank, realises that they are related and steals/drops clues for Tova to find. It transpires that he is her grandson.

A bit whimsical and quirky, but not a bad read.
